Are stock signal Telegram groups a scam?
Not all of them, but most can’t prove they aren’t. A paid signal group sells you its track record, and on Telegram that record is almost always screenshots and hand-picked wins. Until a group shows results read from a real account, with calls timestamped before the move, assume you’re paying for marketing.
How signal groups make money
An honest group earns its subscription by being early and right. Many earn in other ways instead: a commission on every trade you place through their exchange link, a cut of your losses through partner brokers, upsells to ever more exclusive tiers, or simply a flood of new members who join on hype and leave before they notice the results.
The common scams
- Pump and dump: the owner buys a small stock or coin, tells hundreds of members to buy, and sells into their orders.
- Screenshot track records: wins edited, cropped or taken from a demo account; losses never shown.
- Calls after the fact: “we called this” posted once the move has happened, or old messages quietly edited.
- Deleted losers: bad calls removed, so the channel history looks perfect.
- Guaranteed returns: no honest trader can promise them. It’s the clearest warning sign there is.
Five checks before you pay
- Results read from their real brokerage or exchange account, not shown as images.
- Every call timestamped before the price moved, and impossible to edit later.
- Losing calls still on the record.
- Realised profit on closed trades, not just a rising balance.
- Their own money visibly in the market.

A verifiable alternative
Stock Locker exists because these checks are so hard to run on Telegram. Traders connect their real accounts read-only, every call is sealed with a timestamp and a fingerprint before the market moves, and losing calls can’t be deleted. You can read a trader’s whole record free before deciding whether their calls are worth paying for. How sealed calls work · See verified traders
Frequently asked questions
Are Telegram trading signal groups legit?
Some are run honestly, but most can't show a record you can verify. Results posted as screenshots, calls that appear after the move and deleted losers make it impossible to tell a good group from a bad one. Treat any group as unproven until it shows a record read from a real account.
How do signal group scams work?
Common ones are pump-and-dumps (members buy what the owner already holds), fake results built from screenshots, upsells to 'VIP' tiers, paid referral schemes, and owners who earn from members' trading fees or losses rather than from good calls.
How can I check a signal provider before paying?
Ask for a record read directly from their brokerage or exchange account, calls timestamped before the price moved, every losing call still visible, and how much of their own money is in the market. If they can't show these, you're paying for marketing.
